In Arizona, dog bite cases are very different from most personal injury cases. They are different from auto accident cases, slip and falls, etc, because they are “Strict Liability” cases.

Strict Liability means that the victim doesn’t have to prove the dog owner did anything wrong. So even if you did everything you could to prevent your dog from biting someone, you can still be found liable.  The victim simply needs to prove he was bitten.

Dog bite victims should also be aware. If you are bitten by a dog, you should be aware of the short Statute of Limitations.

As in any Strict Liability case in Arizona, if you’re a victim, you must sue within 1 year, not the normal 2 years as in most injury cases.
